LoveDale- A lovely place of love and peace

A green valley covered with eucalyptus trees, a peaceful area surrounded by foggy hills and a shrill sound and whistle of a toy-train. Well, that's not the description of some fairyland. Rather this is the real land, the real place , the real lovely hill station of LoveDale we are talking about.

Love Dale

Lovedale is situated in the blue hills of Nilgiris Distt. of western Tamil Nadu, India. In fact we can say that it is an amiable little station on Nilgiri Mountain Railway which runs from Mettupalayam in the plains up the Blue Mountains on a beautiful journey towards Ooty, the queen of hills.

LoveDale is famous for the legacy of its educational institutions. The Lawrence School is one such educational institution and it is named after its founder, Sir Henry Montgomery Lawrence.Though Sir Lawrence had started this school with the idea of providing education to the children of British Army Officers but today a lot of Indian children are getting education in this lovely institute whose some of the famous alumni include Arundhati Roy, author of Booker Prize winning novel- The God of Small Things, Akshay Khanna, the actor, Aanand Mahindra, Mahindra & Mahindra Groups, Gul Panag, Miss India 1998 etc.

LoveDale

There is only one small platform on LoveDale railway station and for more astonishment there is only one bench on this platform. The bench looks lonely and isolated until somebody sits upon it. Once being there on the bench you can have the lovely view of a deep green valley and falling mist in the depths of that valley.

Ooty is just few Kilometres away from this place. The greatest advantage one can enjoy here at LoveDale is that it does not attract lot of tourists because this place has fortunately escaped from being commercialised by various shops and vendors.

LoveDale

If somebody wants the abode of nature, peace, privacy and few hours of his or her own happiness and freedom then one should definitely visit the lovely LoveDale!!
