Gulmarg is one place which is quite famous for its lustrous beauty and heavenly atmosphere. It is situated in the Baramulla District and is 57 kms form Srinagar, the capital of Jammu and kashmir. Gulmarg is well known for its grassy hills, splendid landscape, flower farms and snow hidden mountains. Mughal Emparor Jahngir was so impressed by the beauty of Gulmarg that he chose to make it, his place of rendezvous.
Gulmarg has world famous hill resorts and the major attraction of the area is a Golf Course which is situated at the height of 2650 m, which is the highest Golf course in the world. Khilanmarg is the skiing spot and offers a marvelous view of Himalayan mountains. Alphater lake is another popular tourist spot which is about 13 kms away from Gulmarg.
Air and Rail facilities are available till Srinagar and from there regular bus facilities are offered to reach Gulmarg. The best time to visit Gulmarg is November to February for skiing, for the rest of the year the weather in Gulmarg remains pleasant.
